Scripture: Genesis 1: 20 - 23 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
Isn't it great that we worship and praise a God who fills his creation with life! Literally, it teems with life... So many disregard the guidance of God in pursuit of behavior that gives cheap thrills that cost in the end. Talk to any biologist, ecologist, astrophysicist, or others who study in fields that deal with the environment and cosmos. You will have a conversation with one who is overwhelmed by the nature of their work. The efficiency of the complex systems that work in perfect harmony and provide for the needs of the earth is baffling. Who would miss the opportunity to converse and serve the One who made and sustains it all? Unfortunately, many do. They work in opposition to the One and cause a lot of problems for all. Even more unfortunate, is when those who worship God get distracted by those who don't and they let them spoil the grandeur of God. Folks, the old saying misery loves company is true. Ignore those who live in a world devoid of the Kingdom of God. They may say they believe, but their faith is misappropriated and it shows. The blessings we get through our life with Christ are ever increasing (John 10:10). When you read today's text, you almost feel God's joy at the scene of life bursting forth in God's creation. I hope you get caught up in it and you too experience it in your own life.
Pray with me..., Holy God we confess we get bogged down in all our fears, frustration, and struggles we face each day. Quicken our spirits to look beyond them, knowing You will help us through it all. Help us to enjoy this life. Be with our loved one's O God, we ask Your blessings upon them. And we ask Your blessing upon our church, so we can be the blessing You call us to be, in Jesus name, Amen.
God's peace,
Pastor Brian
