Scripture: Psalm 8:4 What is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that You care for them?

The largest digital camera is located in Chile at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory.  It is created to get the widest, deepest, fastest views of the night sky ever observed.  The camera itself weighs 6,173  lbs. with a 3200 megapixel lense.  Now, that's a camera!  It was created to carry out the Legacy Survey of Space and Time project which lasted for ten years.  Folks the results are coming in, take time to Google some of this information.  Afterall, you worship, and yes pray and talk, to the One who created it.  Simply put, it is amazing.  If you ever have had the opportunity to view the night sky in a place where there isn't much light, you have sensed the grandeur of God's cosmos.  My guess is, David was experiencing just that when he wrote these lines.  It may seem like David is saying, God, why bother with us?  But, he is not.  He is saying as awesome as all of it is, God loves us.  The power entailed in God's creation is immeasurable, yet it was created for us, for our wellbeing (Gen 1:31) by a God who loves us.  Nothing can take that intent away from us.  We, on the other hand, can misuse or destroy it.  Or, we can live in harmony with it.  Do you see how the teaching of Jesus dovetails perfectly with the creation accounts in Genesis. The idea of living your life loving God, others, and yourself (Matthew 22: 37-40); that perfect harmony God sought in Genesis and emphasized in Jesus.  The understanding that you too can rest with God (Gen 2:3, Exo 24:31).  It is interesting to see where Jesus condemned places He had been who hardened their hearts to His teaching and miracles, but He rejoices at those who receive it.  In His rejoicing He calls on God as Lord of heaven and earth (Matthew 11:20-28).  The heavens do not just mean the dwelling place of God, but the skies above too.  Those who understand the grandeur of God's creation, God's cosmos (Ps19).  Those who understand that their Creator and Redeemer (Jn 1:1-3, Col 1:16) is that God, come to a realization that allows for rest and peace in their lives.  On a side note, I've been asked if I believe in aliens from outer space.  I say maybe.  Maybe because..., at least at this point, I have not seen conclusive evidence I can relate to that proves they exist.  But if they do, they may have many ways that are foreign to me, but their Creator is the very same as mine.  (Live long and prosper;)

Pray with me...  Holy God, may we never lose sight of Your grandeur.  Amaze us and quicken our faith in You.  Hear our prayers, O God, for our loved ones.  Bless them, we pray, in accord with their needs.  Bless our church, O God, so we can bring glory to You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

God's peace,

Pastor Brian
