Scripture: Psalm 66: 1-2 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!  Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.

In America, we take time to celebrate our independence.  We celebrate the efforts of those who have gone before us.  Those who engaged all their efforts to establish our nation.  What they began and established, we continue to manage and maintain.  So often, these efforts make for a lot of sparks and fireworks, but not celebration.  Often, they are the result of conflict and fighting.  I was amazed when I watched Jimmy Kimmel the other night and he was interviewing Arnold Swarzenegger.  No offense, but Arney is not one I look to for words of wisdom, but he had some.  As he travels the world, the biggest thing people want from him is help getting into America.  He directs them to our policies, but he has never lost sight of the blessing he received when he became a US citizen.  Folks, what we have in our country is second to none.  Be proud of it, dont lose sight of the goodness amidst the news and propaganda that grandize the problems.  And yes, I believe God has directed our leaders and our nation over the years of it's existence.  Whether they listen is up to them.  But, I hope we thank God for all that God does for us, and them, each day.  When you see the fireworks going off, say, that's for You, God!  Thank You, for the direction and assistance You give to us as a nation.  Never lose sight of your responsibility as a Christian and US citizen.  As Jesus said, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)".  I hope our fireworks do not get rained out.  Even if they do, I am still joyful for the blessing and freedom, the independence, I receive living in this nation.  I am thankful for what God and others have done to make it happen.  I hope you are too.  So, if possible, light the grill, get out the bbq sauce, make something great, and relax and enjoy...  Even if you are going through something, you can still push it aside and give praise to God.

Pray with me..., Holy God, thank You for the inspiration and support You have given us.  Help us to continue to live out the vision You have for our nation.  Thank you for hearing our prayers.  We ask Your blessing on our loved ones.  Bless them, O God, according to their needs.  And, we ask Your blessing on our church, guide us, so we can be the blessing You call us to be, in Jesus' name, Amen.

God's peace,

Pastor Brian
