Scripture: Revelation 7: 13-14 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?” I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Oftentimes, I have heard people say that God gives people trying times, or tribulation, to purify them. I do not agree. When difficulties and suffering enter our life, some fight to steady themselves, others fold under it. But, honestly, our reaction is more complicated in nature. I think we do our fair share of fighting and folding throughout the event. If the hardship is the result of a mistake or mishap that we are responsible for (Psalm 145:8-9), it can make for a learning experience (Matthew 11:28-30). Always know, God is gracious and merciful at heart. God will help you through the messes you make, while others sit in judgement. Sometimes our best thinking can get us in the most trouble. So, what does purify the robes (the souls), cleaning them, and turning them white. It is the blood of the Lamb. It is the relationship they have with God through Jesus Christ. It is a relationship that builds and grows each day which is made possible by what Jesus taught and did on the cross for all (Ephesians 2:8-9). I don't care who you are or what you have done, the LORD's hand is always stretched out to you.
Pray with me.., Holy God we rejoice that we can rest in You. The world may judge us, we may make mistakes, but You are faithful. Hear our praise for Your steadfast love toward us, which is our salvation. We ask Your blessing upon our loved ones. Bless them, we pray according to their needs. We ask Your blessing on our church, guide us O God, so we can be the blessing You call us to be. In Jesus' name. Amen
God’s Peace,
