Devotional - September 16, 2026

Scripture: Hebrews 12: 12-13 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.  “Make level paths for your feet, Pr 4:26 so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Resolve, it is the key component of any endeavor.  If we could count the number of things people begin on any given day and how many they complete, we would be astounded by the number who give-up.  Folks are good at covertly giving up.  We disguise it with sentiments and phrases like, I'll do it later, or other things got in the way.  We really wanted to, but never get to it.  We do not even start.  Developing our faith and relationship with God certainly falls into this category.  The Israelites were told by the Psalmist to strengthen their resolve, to build-up their faith and nation.  They had become weak and unsteady.  And the Psalmist was telling them to practise their faith and let it strengthen their resolve.  To clear away the things they stumbled over, that caused them to fall, so they could walk in their way continuously, confidently.  By doing so, it would bring healing to their lameness.  We all know this process intimately.  It hits on all levels of our lives, be it spiritually, mentally, or physically.  In today's society, there are so many things to distract us, or for us to turn to, and away from God.  The average thirty year old has had five to six jobs by the time they are twenty-four and eight to ten by the time they are thirty.  It's the norm.  If things don't feel right, do something else.  Unfortunately, it now extends to one's spiritual life.  We need to remind others that one's relationship with God extends throughout their life.  It is a journey (Genesis 47:9) filled with discovery, some good, some not so good.  But, God's faithfulness and love last a lifetime (Psalm 23:6, Hebrews 13:8).  Therefore, let us always, like Paul, press onward (Philippians 3: 13-15) and be strengthened by our ever-growing relationship with God.      

Pray with me ...,  Holy God, bless us as we continue to strengthen our relationship with You.  Help us to endure times of learning and emerge enlightened by Your wisdom and grace.  Hear us as we pray for our loved ones.  We ask Your blessing on them and upon our church.  Help us to be the people you call us to be, in Jesus' name, Amen.
